The Sound Walk
After hearing my audio the whole hour, and pay attention to it, I realized how many sounds you can appreciate. From hearing ambulance sirens to hear many languages. Most of the times, we ignore every single little thing and sound, sometimes we are so focused in our own thing that we notice the rest. It’s interesting to actually realize how diverse this city is. I could hear different languages, languages that I understand and others I do not. How the voice of some people sounded a little deeper and in a happy tone, and other a little more calm and serious. I could also hear the steps of people, and even my own steps, usually in New York City; people are always in a rush and walk fast. One sound that I really enjoyed was the one hearing the wind and the noise the sleeves make because of it. Also, the singing of the birds, I found it so relaxing and calm, it made me forget I was walking in a busy and crowded city. I walked from 5av to Central Park because I knew I could I get different types of sounds. But I may say one of the sounds I could hear the most was from the cars and buses, especially when you are in Manhattan. It is impossible not to hear the honks of the cars every minute; it is something that makes the city characteristic, for the crazy traffic. Definitely, I will do this experiment in a different neighborhood and see if I can discover new sounds.
