One of the things that first came to my mind when I saw
Kristen walking around the auditorium was: “She is really energetic and
colorful”. I think she was trying to show that we should pay attention to
everything that surrounds us. Sometimes, we stay still in one place thinking we
get the best in there but we do not know if trying from other angle it may look
better. We all are different shapes and sizes, and we all see the world in a
different perspective, she described herself of being a tall woman, and she
sees people in a different way than a person of a short height would. I think
she tried to make a point that we can get good results if we try from different
positions and understand how other see the world.
Her film was really touching, sometimes we have an idea how
people live but it is different when you see it on a video. It was a little
depressing how people in Afghanistan live, all look so dark and grey without
life. So, the shot of the kid walking
with the balloons and the camera going through them, shows that there is still
color in a place that it may not seem nice, that there is innocence in those
kids who want to live and have a better life.
She made me us do this exercise into look each other’s eyes,
I think her purpose was to appreciate what we have in front of us that
sometimes we see but don’t look or observe. We ignore things that are just in
front of us, and we don’t know what it may seem obvious.
One of the things I like of her lecture was to observe
details, being in the moment, summarize with a word what we got from each film
we watch. Sometimes, I do not pay attention to details that can actually mean a
lot in a whole story, I think after what she said; I started paying more
attention to little things that can make a big difference.
